1) Error-Correcting Code - код с исправлением (коррекцией) ошибок, корректирующий кодприменяется для обнаружения и автоматического исправления (без прерывания ЦП) одиночных ошибок (single-bit error) в кэш-памяти, ОЗУ и при передаче данных; обычно в микросхемах ЕСС-памяти (ECC memory) используется код Хемминга (Hamming code). Поскольку ЕСС-память дорогая, она чаще всего применяется в системах с повышенной надёжностью. Кроме кода Хемминга, к числу кодов этой категории относятся коды Рида-Соломона (Reed-Solomon code), коды Рида-Мюллера (Reed-Muller code), двоичный код Голея (см. Golay codes), свёрточные коды (convolutional code), турбо-коды (turbo code) и др. Простые корректирующие коды способны исправлять одиночные (однобитовые) ошибки (single-bit error correction) и обнаруживать двойные (двухбитовые) (double-bit error detection). Есть коды, способные обнаруживать и/или исправлять и множественные (многобитовые) ошибки.
